Rhine Valley Day 2

We stayed in the CUTEST bed and breakfast.  This lady had an amazing breakfast for us as well.  One day I will own a bed and breakfast.  :)

This was the remains of a castle from the front yard of the Bed and Breakfast.

This is the town of Koln.

Getting ready to go on a boat ride down the river.

A castle we saw on our boat ride.

It was a little rainy and cold.  This is Dave's parents and brother Cory.

There were vineyards everywhere along the river.  They were beautiful!

Us in one of the cities.

It was cool to see them make a coble stone road.  It look like A LOT of work!

This is an Italian restaurant we ate lunch at.

This store has one of the largest hanging cuckoo clocks.  We bought ours at this store.

Rhine Valley

The Rhine Valley was beautiful!

This is one of the apartments we stayed in.  They were all pretty nice and a very good price.  I recommend renting apartments if you ever go to Europe.

This was the first castle that we went to.  It was incredible.  The setting and surroundings are what I pictured it to be.  This is the Burg Eltz Castle in the hills above the Moselle River.  This castle is owned by the same family since the 12th century.  There are 3 sections to this castle, 2 of the sections are opened to the public and the 3rd section is still used for the family.  We went on a tour and it was very interesting.  The outside is definetly more beautiful than the inside.  The inside has cool things and a neat feel but it isn't as elaborate as I thought it would be.  It was fun to try and picture what it would have been like back in the day.  I LOVED being there.

We had to walk down to the castle.  This is on the way down.

A view of the ground from the back of the castle.

In the middle of the courtyard.

This is the 3rd section that is still used by the family today.

Every direction you looked it was beautiful!

Berlin

The bad thing about updating the blog almost a year later is I don't remember all the history and cool things we learned.  I wish I had been more up to date. :(
We spent a day in Berlin.  It was pretty chilly that day.  We went on a hop on hop off bus and saw a lot of WWII history.  We spent some time at the Berlin wall memorial.

We stopped at checkpoint Charlie.

I had to buy a hat or I would freeze! This is the Brandenburg Gate.

These stones represent something but I can't remember what.

This was one of Hilters command posts
