Feb. - WB Tours

On President's Day, Dave and I went to the Warner Brother Studios for a tour.  I got bummed when I realized that there is nothing in production that day since it was a holiday.  I was hoping to see someone famous.  It ended up being awesome though.  Since there was no filming there was no restrictions on what we could go into.

It was so interesting to see how they film things.  We saw a lot of streets, houses, and locations they use to film.  Some of the houses they use more than just the outside.  Others they use sound studios for inside locations.  The houses are used for numerous productions.  It takes about a day to set up the house for the scene.  They sometimes have different shows using it in the same week.  It seems like a lot of putting up and taking down to turn around and do it all over again.

I didn't take as many pictures as I thought.  Some houses we toured wouldn't let us take pictures inside and no pictures could be taken inside the sound stages.

A few of the studios I remember seeing were the sets for Two Broke Girls, Pretty Little Liars, and Friends. We also saw the props store and some of the houses they use for filming. We drove around the lots and saw where they filmed different scenes from Jurassic Park, Hart of Dixie, Pretty Little Liars, the Spider Man upside-down kiss, and The Mask.

On the sound studio for Pretty Little Liars it has the girls bedrooms, the school, and a few other places.  It was interesting.  Conan films on the lot, as does Ellen.  They told us when they filmed Ocean's 13 and other movies they made one of the studios into a casino.  They said it was cheaper than filming in Vegas.  To make the set it cost some crazy amount,  I can't remember what they said.  It was like $80 million or more.

We also went to a museum at the end that has items from movies and TV shows.

This is an area in the middle of the lot.  They use it for the Bluebell town center on Hart of Dixie.  They use it for a few scenes in Pretty Little Liars also.

This is the outside of the doctor's office on Hart of Dixie.  The inside is filmed in a sound studio.

On Pretty Little Liars there is a scene where a car comes through the front window of Shay's house.  When they filmed that scene they really had a car go through this front window.  They just had to fix it after.  Crazy!

They had a warehouse that had cars they have used in films.

Afterwards we met up with one of Dave's friends from college.  He now lives in the LA area.  We ate at Big Boy hamburgers, it was tasty.

Mindy- Disneyland

I love these girls so much.  It was so fun having them visit.  It was SOOO HARD when they left.  They went to Disneyland for two days.  I was going to go with them but after the day at Sea World I was exhausted and hurting so I didn't go.  They got all ready to go and I told them they could leave Jemma with me.  I had fun snuggling and playing with Jemma.

Mindy- San Diego

We all went to San Diego Sunday to Tuesday morning.  It is about a three hour drive from where we live.  It was a little windy and chilly but still a lot of fun.

Dave was obsessed with flying his kite.....

 

We went to Sea World.  I was getting large and waddling, it was fun but tiring.  

This show was our favorite.  The little otter was pretty cute.

I had never been to Sea World and have always wanted to go.  It was fun to do once and experience but was a little disappointing.  I think since there was a trainer killed by the killer whale they can't go in the water with them and makes it a little less exciting.
